In this workshop, we will be exploring ways of supporting our mental health beyond consumerist models of self care. Drawing wisdom from feminist and social justice theory, flower essences, aromatherapy and plant medicine, we will find ways to nourish ourselves during a time of remarkable uncertainty and collective anxiety. This space is intended for anyone who experiences any degree of depression, anxiety, ptsd or who is simply struggling and looking to better care for themselves. With a tone of curiosity and kindness, we will be finding new ways to show up for ourselves and gain support from the natural world. We will also talk about stigmas around mental illness and how to ask for help in an individualistic culture that can often make this feel difficult.
Human beings are by nature story tellers. We tell stories to make sense of the world. We tell stories about who we are. Becoming aware of our stories gives us the power to step into the role of author of our own life. In this workshop we'll identify the limiting stories we are telling ourselves that keep us from moving forward and from realizing our full potential. Once we identify these limiting stories we can upgrade them! We can write new, more expansive stories that support our authenticity and truth. Becoming conscious authors of our stories is one of the most empowering acts we can perform, both for our own healing and wholeness and for the well-being of our collective community.
This workshop will provide an opportunity to ground and connect with yourself and others. The theme will be “awakening to our truth.” We will explore, our “truths” and how they show up for us individually and as a group. Amanda will offer a guided meditation and a supportive art making experience that will allow the theme to emerge visually. We will use the group process to support one another and we look at ourselves, our values and what we hold to be true. All art materials will be provided. All are welcome, no prior mindfulness or art making experience needed, just an open mind and desire to connect!
Grief is a universal human experience that lives within our bodies as well as our minds and spirits. Living in a culture that doesn't always embrace grief, it can often get stuck inside of us with nowhere to go.
This workshop will be a place to shed the stresses of how you are “supposed to” grieve and allow for space to honor where you are in your grief journey. Being in supportive community with others who are grieving will provide a safe and compassionate environment to help you explore your own grief while not feeling alone.
Your story is medicine -- for yourself and for the world.
It is time to pull up a chair beside the inner voice, lean in & listen deeply, and bring its messages out into the world. This workshop provides a supported process that brings body & heart along every step of the way. By coming to presence in the moment, in the space, in a circle of compassionate witnesses, we will create for ourselves a safe & sacred space to come alive as empowered, embodied women.
What stands in the way of your authentic expression? Sometimes it's just habits that have become entrenched. Or it can be an outworn message we have been told or tell ourselves. It can even be historical or ancestral trauma that has stolen our voices.
Together, we are building a path for our voices to return to the world by telling the very stories that have kept us quiet.
Namaste! Welcome. Ground and expand through breath and movement as we transition from summer to fall. Explore heart-opening poses in a supportive space. Release blockages, cleanse thought patterns, explore natural rhythms and cycles of the body and seasons, and create new intentions for the fall. Balance the high energy of summer with rejuvenating and restorative poses, breath work, and meditation.
It seems like everywhere we look nowadays people are talking about triggers. What exactly are triggers, and how can we learn to identify and work with them from a body-based perspective? Join Jessica Schaffer, Nervous System Health Educator and Wellness Mentor for an evening exploring the physiological underpinnings of your personal hotspots. Jessica will explain how the body (and specifically the nervous system) is primed to react to cues of danger. When our bodies are activated and in this state of "survival physiology," we are less capable of choosing behaviors that will lead us back to safety and connection. Jessica will offer insight into how to work directly with your body to recognize when you are being triggered, and she will introduce some practical tools to help you navigate the experience of being triggered in a new, body-conscious way.
